On Saturday the 14th July 2007 it was time again for our students to go head to head and battle it out for prizes to the value of $1000. This year has seen many talented DJs come through the school with the battle standards getting progressively higher. Each student got the opportunity to create their own instinctive style in the 12 weeks of the course and this night was their chance to show-case it behind the decks. In all previous battles, students have not only impressed the judges and crowd but also the club managers and promoters alike. In addition to this, the recent popularity of digital technology has encouraged students to raise the bar yet again and push it's boundaries !
The winner was DJ Sanks, who used Serato, Ableton Live, 2 Laptops, 2 Mixers, Turntables and a Foot switch to produce his own track 'live' layer by layer. He combined his production skills with his DJing and turntablism skills to put together a complete allrounder set.
DJ Bliss won the "club category" by showcasing quick but smooth mixes with some beat juggling thrown in on the Pioneer CDJs.
DJ Murphalicious won the "performance category" by demonstrating great showmanship combined with technical ability in an energetic set. He was definitely the crowd favorite being only 16 yrs old.
